Desktop application development

Desktop application development for Windows, macOS and Linux

Our desktop software service

Internal tools for your team, software that keeps working without internet, connections to printers, scanners, scales and POS terminals, installers with automatic updates, and migration of old VB6, Access or legacy .NET software to a modern stack - in whatever language and framework the project needs, with the code owned by you.

Why us

What is different about our desktop development

Desktop software is the right choice when the work happens next to hardware, without a reliable network, or on a machine the team opens every morning. We pick the technology for the need, not for what is convenient for us to write.

Electron or Tauri when the team knows the web, .NET and WPF for a corporate Windows environment, C++ and Qt when performance or hardware access matters, Python for working tools and data. The choice is justified in writing before we build.

Label and receipt printers, barcode and document scanners, scales, POS terminals and sensors are tested on the real models in use. When needed we wait for the device and test against it directly, not against a simulation.

The software stores data locally, keeps working without a connection and syncs to the server when the network returns. Rules for conflicts between workstations are defined in the specification, so no order or record disappears silently.

You receive the source code, the signing certificate in your name, and installation and build documentation. You can keep us for maintenance, move to an in-house team or another vendor, and still release a new version without depending on us.

What we build

What we can build for the desktop

  • Order entry, inventory management, document generation or database work, in a fast interface built around what the employee does all day, with keyboard shortcuts and support for several screens.

  • Printing labels and receipts, reading barcodes, taking weight from a scale and connecting to POS terminals over USB, serial or network, with error handling for when a device is disconnected.

  • A local database, a queue of actions waiting for the network, and sync with the server or your existing management system - for businesses with branches, warehouses, trucks or sites without stable reception.

  • VB6, Access and legacy .NET programs move to a modern version or to the web, with data migration and a parallel run of both systems, so daily work does not stop on cut-over day.

  • An installer package, automatic updates that do not interrupt the user, code signing that prevents Windows and macOS warnings, and licensing per seat or per customer when the software is sold on.

How it works

How a project runs. Simply.

Every stage ends with something you can run and test on a real computer, so you see progress before we continue.

  1. Scoping and choice of stack

We document who uses the software, on which computers and equipment, what must work without a network, and which data already exists. The stage ends with a written specification, a justified technology choice and a milestone plan.

  2. Development and test builds

At every milestone you get an installable build and test it on a real workstation with the real equipment. Fixes go into the next build, and the software is tested on the operating system versions you actually use.

  3. Rollout, updates and maintenance

We install on the workstations, migrate data from the old system, set up automatic updates and code signing and train the users. After launch you can continue with monthly maintenance or take a handover and run it yourselves.
